Keno: A Complete Guide

Keno is a popular game, and the name is  derived from the French word quine, which loosely translates to five winning numbers. As you can guess, it takes five lucky numbers to win. You can come up with these numbers randomly, follow a sequence, use your house number, digits from your social security number, and more, hoping to win.

Steps to Follow
The player has a choice of playing one game or several games simultaneously.

1.      The first step requires a player to pick numbers between 1 and 80 and mark them on what is referred to as a keno ticket.

2.      The player then heads over with their lucky numbers to the Keno writer and places their bet.

3.      Then the player has to watch as the winning numbers are selected and match them up to the numbers he has marked on the keno ticket.

4.      The player wins if the numbers on their Keno ticket are among the 20 randomly selected numbers drawn in the game. The payout depends on the specific table and varies among casinos.

Payout also depends on the wager and how many matches there are between the numbers drawn and those the player picked. It is important to note that the more you wager, the higher the win. The player indicates the wager amount on the upper right of their ticket for reference after the draw.

To establish whether you have won, the casino showcases the lucky winning digits on a display board at the keno section and a few other locations in the casino. A keno writer or runner is available to check for you how much you have won, but you can also do it yourself if you prefer.

Some hotel-casinos enable players to access the results from the TVs in the hotel rooms, and this means the player does not have to wait in the Keno lounge as the game progresses to find out if they won.

House Advantage

The Keno game is automated, and there is no way to manipulate it, either for the players or the house. It is a game of luck—however, the odds of winning favor the house. There are eighty marked balls mixed exhaustively by a blower from which twenty numbers are picked at random to determine the winners. Players win anything from $1 to $1,000,000 per game depending on their wager and the number of matches they score.

Quick Pick in Keno

Another popular aspect of the game is the quick pick. If you choose this option, you have to indicate how many numbers you would like to play and how much you want to wager. The computer then randomly generates the numbers for you to go into the draw.

After each keno game, it is prudent that you claim your prize as soon as possible so you don't lose the ticket.
